Artist Residency

Ms. Adams is available for short or long term residencies. Each residency is designed according to the needs of the host sponsor, i.e., History, English, Social Studies or Theatre Arts classes.

The play is used as a vehicle to teach history and as a springboard to the creative process. By integrating creative writing, public speaking and theatrical components, Ms Adams works with students to develop their own dramatic piece based on a historical figure. The intention is to empower students by allowing them to portray powerful people that stand for important words and actions.

Grant Opportunity
The Montana Arts Council offers a grant that will fund up to half the cost of an Artist Residency. Go to their website for more information on how to apply at http://art.mt.gov/.

This is an exciting year for the summer drama camp in Virginia City! Program Director Allyson Adams will be joined by the Illustrious Virginia City Players to give young actors a theatrical foundation in the notorious historical setting of the Virginia City Opera House.

Students will learn the many facets of being a performing artist while working onstage. Daily instruction in acting, voice, dance, costumes and stage combat will lead young actors toward their final showcase performance at the end of the week long camp.

Drama Camp participants will have the opportunity to usher at nightly Opera House performances and be privy to the authentic backstage life of a professional company. Young actors who have worked with Allyson Adams in their early development as theatre artists have gone on to become Virginia City Players.

Camp starts at 9:00 a.m. and goes until 4:00 p.m.. Bring a sack lunch with spending money for ice cream shops and candy store. Camp cost is $175.00. Early signup is recommended. Apply early for scholarships.
